Cupping Therapy (or Hijama)

You may have seen those circular marks on athletes’ backs on TV. These marks, which look like perfectly round bruises, are the result of an ancient therapeutic technique: cupping therapy.

 

THERAPISTS WHO USE THEM

At our clinic, this method is fully integrated into our treatments. Several of our massage therapists — Diane D., Dorothée, Malina, Diane P., Radia, Sabrina, Taïna and Johanna — use it regularly for its many benefits.

 

Two Possible Approaches

  • Static Cupping: The cup is placed on a specific area of the body and left in place for a few minutes. It works locally to decongest tissues.
  • Dynamic Cupping: The cup is gently moved along the skin, following the path of a muscle or an area of tension. This technique is often used in leg circulation massage to break down tissue adhesions and stimulate circulation.

⚠️ Important to Know
Cupping can leave visible marks on the skin, similar to bruises. These marks are harmless but may last up to a week or longer, especially after prolonged local application.
